Monster House - a real treat, Messengers - what a trick

Netflix sent us Monster House on Blu-Ray over the weekend and I have to say the sound quality on uncompressed 5.1 was by far one of the best I’ve heard in awhile. Not sure if purist could call it ref material but to my ears, the effects from this movie were well placed and strong. A movie any child at heart can relate and relive, Monster House was an enjoyable ride. The video presentation was punchy and sharp, but that is expected with cgi presentations.

The Messengers almost had the complete package. The Blu-Ray transfer was excellent and the uncompressed audio was stellar but the story sucked. You can tell it was directed by Japanese directors as the film had the same gray hands, contortionist crawlers and face-fright as the Grudge or the Ring.

With Halloween around the corner, we are in full creature-feature mode as we try to flood the theater with as many screamers as we can. Maybe I will pull out some oldies but goodies from my library. I only wish they were on Blu-Ray.
